On the 9th March the Tibetan Community of Queensland and the Australia Tibet Council (Brisbane branch) organised a march in Brisbane from King George Square to New Farm Park. Our community and Australia Tibet Council (Brisbane) has organised a rally on 9th March. The rally commemorates the Tibetan Uprising Day. Usually Tibetan observe this day on 10th March however this year it is falling on a Monday so this year we chose to hold it one day before for our convenience. Tibetan Uprising Day commemorates the 1959 Tibetan uprising against the presence of the Chinese armies in Tibet. The day is actually on 10th March, however this year it is on Monday so this time we chose to observe on Sunday the day before.
Since the Chinese occupation in Tibet the situation inside Tibet has deteriorated socially, economically, and environmentally. Particularly, since recent years, as most of us already know, the situation inside Tibet has worsen following Tibet wide protests in 2008, especially the self-immolation of more than 127 Tibetan due the absence of basic human rights what so ever.
Our community with our supporter Australia Tibet Council (Brisbane) has organised a rally to highlight these the issue, details are as follow:
- Date – Sunday 9th March
- Time – 10:15 am
- Place – King George Square to New Farm Park
- What to bring – Tibetan flags, signs, banners (if you have got one)
- What to wear – Comfortable working shoes, sunscreen, sunnies, hat, water (we will also provide water)
So please join with us and make this awareness day successful and to save human lives from burning inside Tibet! Every small act will make a difference
