Larung Gar: China ‘destroys building at Tibetan Buddhist academy’
Larung Gar is said to be the biggest Tibetan Buddhist institute in the world. But China has started demolishing buildings at Larung Gar, Chinese authorities have said Larung Gar’s population must be reduced from 10,000 to no more than 3,500 nuns and 1,500 monks by October. Chinese authorities have announced the destruction of thousands of monastic dwellings and expulsion of monks, nuns and lay practitioners at Serthar Larung Gar Buddhist Institute, the famed Tibetan Buddhist religious encampment located in Serthar (Ch: Seda) County in Kardze (Ch: Ganzi) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, in Tibet.
Our community members and supporters has gathered in Brisbane city to stop the destruction of sacred Larung Gar institute and the sacrifice of lives of Buddhist.
